There are multiple opportunities to participate in training at Parramatta City Athletics, with sessions designed to help athletes develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy their athletics.
Weekly training is available to registered PCA members and is held at Barton Park. Access to general training sessions is included in your registration fee.
Specialist Training Sessions, Introduction Courses and Pop-up Clinics may also be offered throughout the season. Some of these programs may attract a small additional fee.
Individual training sessions may have specific age, experience or ability requirements. Please check the information for each training option before booking to ensure you select the most appropriate session for your athlete.
Bookings
Bookings are required for all training sessions and open 7 days in advance.
Please book by 2:00pm on the day of training. If there are no athletes booked into a session by 2:00pm, that session will be cancelled.
If your athlete can no longer attend, please email coaching@parramattacityathletics.org.au as soon as possible so the place can be made available to another athlete.
Athletes are encouraged to train across different disciplines; however, back-to-back sessions are discouraged. Athletes should complete no more than one training session per day.
Arriving at Training
Athletes should arrive 5 minutes before their scheduled session and meet their coach at either the double gates or clubhouse, as advised.
Arriving on time allows athletes to participate in the full warm-up and prepare safely for training.
Athletes arriving more than 15 minutes after the session has commenced will not be able to participate, as they will have missed the structured warm-up required to prepare safely for the session.
Parent & Carer Supervision
A parent or carer must remain at Barton Park for the duration of training for all athletes aged 16 years and younger.
At the conclusion of the session, parents and carers should meet their athlete at the double gates.
What to Wear & Bring
Club uniform is not required for training. Athletes should wear:
-
Comfortable activewear appropriate for the weather
-
Appropriate running shoes
-
A drink bottle
-
A hat and/or warm clothing as required
Athletes aged 11s and above may bring spikes to training. Spikes should only be worn when instructed by the coach and during the parts of the session where the coach considers them appropriate.
Training Cancellations
Training may occasionally be cancelled due to weather, ground conditions, coach availability or other circumstances.
Where possible, cancellations will be communicated directly to booked athletes by email and posted in TeamApp and the PCA WhatsApp Coaching Community.
Please keep an eye on these communication channels when weather conditions are uncertain.
Training Expectations
Our training sessions are designed to provide a safe, positive and supportive environment for athletes to learn and develop.

-

-
Treat coaches and other athletes with respect
-
Use equipment safely and as directed
