Competition

Parramatta City Athletics offers structured competition opportunities for athletes of all ages — from introductory participation through to State and National level events.

Our competition calendar includes weekly club competition, as well as events delivered by Athletics NSW.

WEEKLY CLUB COMPETITION

Parramatta City Athletics conducts a weekly competition that forms the foundation of our season. It focuses on participation, skill development and personal improvement.

Athletes compete within their age groups across a rotating program of running, walking, jumping and throwing events. Age Managers will take the athletes to events in the order specified in the program. Results are published via the ResultsHQ website.

Weekly Competitions are held on a Friday evening from September to March.

Arrival Time:

All athletes should arrive by 5:45pm for a 6:00pm start.

Approximate Finish Times:

Tiny Tots: ~7:00pm

6s & 7s: ~7:30pm

8s and above: between 8:00pm - 9:00pm

Weekly Competitions are held at Barton Park, North Parramatta.

Little Athletics at Parramatta follows a four-weekly program rotation.

Each week, the Age Manager will take the athletes to events in the order specified on the program.

Athlete results from the weekly competitions can be found on ResultsHQ.

ADDITIONAL COMPETITION OPPORTUNITIES

In addition to weekly Friday competition, athletes are encouraged to participate in a range of events delivered by NSW Athletics.

These opportunities allow athletes to compete beyond club level, represent Parramatta City Athletics and gain valuable competition experience.

 

ZONE TO STATE CHAMPIONSHIP PATHWAY

Athletes may progress through the Zone → Region → State pathway, providing opportunities to compete at higher levels depending on age group and qualification.

ZONE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Zone Championships are conducted in each of the 23 zones throughout the state. Parramatta competes in the Northern Metropolitan Zone, with North Rocks Carlingford, Ryde, Northern Suburbs, and Cherrybrook.

Athletes in the age groups 7s through to 20s are eligible for this event. 7s athletes do not progress past the Zone Championships.

REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS

Qualifying athletes from the Zone Champsionships will progress to compete at the Region Championships. There are 8 regions throughout the state. Parramatta competes in Region 5, with North Rocks Carlingford, Ryde, Northern Suburbs, Cherrybrook, Manly Warringah, Ku-Ring-Gai, Northern Districts, Mosman and Hornsby.

Athletes in the age groups 8s through to 15s are eligible for this event via qualification at the zone championships.  8s athletes do not progress past the Region Championships.

Athletes in the age groups 16s through to 20s are able to enter this event via direct entry.

STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The State Championships are the culmination of the athletics track & field competition season.  These events takes place throughout March each year at SOPAC (Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre). The following events comprise the State Championships:

  • Little Athletics State Championships
  • Junior Championships
  • Open Championships
  • Masters Championships

Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre, Homebush

Athletes in the age groups 9s through to 's are eligible for this event via qualification at the region championships. 

Athletes in the age groups 16s through to Masters are able to enter this event via direct entry.

TEAM & INTERCLUB EVENTS

Treloar Shield is a six-round, team-based competition held on Saturday afternoons (September–December). Athletes of all levels can select their preferred events and contribute points towards the club championship in a relaxed, competitive environment.

 

STATE & SPECIALITY EVENTS

Additional events throughout the season may include State Relays, Combined Events and other Athletics NSW competitions, with teams and individuals representing the club.

Masters athletes may compete in NSW Masters events, as well as National and World Masters Championships.
